Zenpo Shimabukuro Sensei who is a Hanshi 10th Dan was born on October 11th, 1943 in Chatan of the Nakagami District in Okinawa. He started studying Karate in 1952 under his father Zenryo Shimabukuro. He then began studying Shorin-ryu under Chozo Nakama in 1958. Shimabukuro Sensei taught in the USA for 3 years from 1963. He is the current chairman of the All Okinawa Karate Federation, which is an organization with 3 dojos in the Okinawa prefecture, 5 branches on the mainland part of Japan, and 200 branches in 14 countries overseas.
