Okinawan Karate history tour on August 17th for Nepal Karate national team members

We took 10 Nepal Karate national team coach and players on Aug 17th.

We started 9:30am from their hotel and visited 6 spots as below

1.Monument and grave of Anko Itosu（Origin of Shito-ryu)

2.Grave of Sokon Matsumura（Founder of Shuri-te)

3.Monument of Gichin Funakoshi（Founder of Shoto-kan)

4.Famour shrine Okinogu

5.Lunch（Nepal food restaurant in Naha)

6.Shuri castle

As most members are Shito-Ryu, we made Shito-Ryu course. They all have good manner and they prayed for their good luck for Asian Karate tournament!

【Report】Shito-Ryu SHOBUKAN workshop in Naha on April 5th-8th 2018

Shito-Ryu Shobukan martial arts workshop was held by Shito-Ryu 7th Dan great master Matsuoka sensei in Naha on April 5th-8th(4days) 2018. 15 students participated in this workshop. They came to Okinawa from Japan,China,Australia and German. They enjoyed not only Karate training but also Karate history tour and Okinawan culture such as food, music and communication with Okinawan people.

1st Day (from evening)

【Report】Goju-ryu training for Shito-ryu practitioners by Gima sensei and Kinjo sensei

We held Shito-Ryu SHOBUKAN workshop on April 5th-8th 2018. In that workshop we invited grand Gojo-ryu master Gima sensei and Kinjo sensei. 15 Shito Ryu practitioners(from Japan, Australia,China and German) learned for 3 hours from them.

They taught us typical warm up exercises of Gojo-ryu, Kata movement and Bundai ( Sanshin ,Seienchin), Breath training, Makihara training and How to use body. After training, they told a lot of Gojo-ryu training episode when they were young. All Participants were moved by their skill,great performance.

After training, we went to Senaga island for BBQ dinner together. We all had a very good time. Thank you very much for Gima sensei and Kinjo sensei’s kind friendship!

Zazen (seated meditation) at the temple of Shuri Kannondo

What is Zazen

Zazen(seated meditation) is the form of meditation at the very heart of Zen practice. In fact, Zen is known as the “meditation school” of Buddhism. Basically, zazen is the study of the self. The great Master Dogen said, “To study the Buddha Way is to study the self, to study the self is to forget the self, and to forget the self is to be enlightened by the ten thousand things.”

To be enlightened by the ten thousand things is to recognize the unity of the self and the ten thousand things. Upon his own enlightenment, Buddha was in seated meditation; Zen practice returns to the same seated meditation again and again. It’s a very simple practice. It’s very easy to describe and very easy to follow. But like all other practices, we have to engage it on a consistent basis if we want to discover its power and depth.

You can experience Zazen at the temple Shuri Kannondo in Naha.This temple is founded in 1618,and belongs to the Ringai Myoshinji section. It is located on the hill, and view from this temple is very nice!

Workshop｜Eiichi Miyazato Karate technique workshop produced by Ageshio Japan

Okinawa Goju-Ryu martial arts workshop by the direct heirs of master Eiichi Miyazato, the founder of Okinawa Goju-Ryu Karate on November 13th-16th(4days), 2018 in Naha.

Great masters of this workshop

Tetsu Gima(Goju-Ryu 9th Dan)He is the student that Eiichi Miyazato sensei taught the longest. Miyazato sensei loved him very much, so he knows a lot of technique and episode of Miyazato sensei.

Tsuneo Kinjo(Goju-Ryu 9th Dan)He is a close friend of Gima sensei, and learned from Miyazato sensei togeher for a long time. Director of Federation of Okinawa Karate, old martial arts.

Kazuya Higa(Goju-Ryu 8th Dan)He is a close friend of Gima sensei and Kinjo sense. He started to learn Karate from Miyazato sensei at the age of 22 years old.

■Tentou-Zan
There were three hills on Onoyama, which was previously an island off Naha: Okinogu was erected on the highest hill Tentouzan, commonly called “Kugani-mui.” Another name for the hill is Tentouzan-Umanuha. Esteemed sacred, Tentou-Zan was revered as a holy place since ancient times.

■Okinogu
The deity enshrined at Okinogu, one of the Eight Ryukyu Shrines, was a sacred log.

Its origin was at Tenpozan on Onoyama and the god enshrined

within was called Amaterasu Omikami who was worshipped at Okinogu as Tenjuku Nuryuguou Onmikami.
