【Event report】The 1st Challenging Person Karate Program on June 24th,2018

The 1st Challenging Person Karate Program was held at Okinawa Karate Keikan on June 24th,2018.
16 persons from child to adult participated in this competition and performed Kata.

It is the first Karate event for mentally handicapped person that refered to the event Special Olympic for mentally handicapped person. Many Okinawan Karate masters who sympathize with purpose of this event joinend as referee, operator,instructor and so on by volunteer.

Tournament was done by four grade division.All participants had done good Kata,and they all got medal and certificate.

After that, Karate trial class was held by Shorin-Ryu great master Takuya Kawasaki sensei for 30minutes. In addition to participants, many audience joined in class together.

It was very impressive that most participants smiled when they finish their performance and get medal.

HIroshi Akamine Sensei said purpose of the event Challenge Person Karate Competition is to encourage children with disabilities to participate in local communities through Okinawa Karate and encourage independent growth.

Zenpo Shimafukuro Sensei said Okinawa Karate is cultivates concentration and encourages healthy people, physically and physically handicapped people, and intellectually disabled people. Please fun your life every day through Karate practice.

【Workshop Report】Shanghai Okinawa Karate Seminar on May 13th 2018

We had Shanghai Okinawa Karate Seminar of KAKAZU sensei 9th dan and Simabukuro Sensei 10 th dan on March 13th 2018. About 100 students, mainly Shanghai, studied Okinawa Karate people. Kakazu Sensei has been teaching karate in Shanghai for 10 years and has a lot of DOJO in Shanghai.

We are planning a big Okinawa karate event in Shanghai next year. Our company Ageshio Japan will continue to do our best to support Okinawa Karate. Oss!

【DOJO Report】Shorin-Ryu Kenshikai Sohombu DOJO

We visited Shorin-Ryu Kenshikai Sohombu dojo. Yoshimasa Kakazu sensei is Hanshi 9th Dan and Vice President of Federation of Okinawa karate, old martial arts. Though Kakazu sensei is 73 years old, he trains every morning and teach students by himself.

When we visited Kenshikai DOJO, there is a class for kids. About 15 people include some adults participated in the class. From 19:00 to 20:30 they trained warm up exercise, base movement, Hit mitt and many Katas. They trained very hard, but seemed to be enjoying. Actually all students are very friendly and very close to each other. I heard Kakazu sensei has a BBQ party after grade test once in three month. I think this is one of the reason students enjoy their training very much and have good relationship.

The opening ceremony of the statue of Kanbun Uechi on 21th April 2018

The opening ceremony of the statue of Kanbun Uechi who is the founder of Uechi-ryu Karatedo at the sakura-no-mori park in Motobu-cho on 21th April 2018. This area is his birthplace and about 550 people participated in this ceremony.

Mr.Sadanao Uechi who is a great-grandchild said that he wish this statue would contribute to development of this area and Okinawa Karate.After his speech, his three relatives performed Kata Sanchin and many Uechi-ryu practitioners performed Kata Kanshiwa together in front of the statue.

It is the first statue of the Okinawa Karate founder.This place will become one of the famous spot for those who visit Okinawa to learn Karate.

【Report】Shito-Ryu SHOBUKAN workshop in Naha on April 5th-8th 2018

Shito-Ryu Shobukan martial arts workshop was held by Shito-Ryu 7th Dan great master Matsuoka sensei in Naha on April 5th-8th(4days) 2018. 15 students participated in this workshop. They came to Okinawa from Japan,China,Australia and German. They enjoyed not only Karate training but also Karate history tour and Okinawan culture such as food, music and communication with Okinawan people.

【Report】Goju-ryu training for Shito-ryu practitioners by Gima sensei and Kinjo sensei

We held Shito-Ryu SHOBUKAN workshop on April 5th-8th 2018. In that workshop we invited grand Gojo-ryu master Gima sensei and Kinjo sensei. 15 Shito Ryu practitioners(from Japan, Australia,China and German) learned for 3 hours from them.

They taught us typical warm up exercises of Gojo-ryu, Kata movement and Bundai ( Sanshin ,Seienchin), Breath training, Makihara training and How to use body. After training, they told a lot of Gojo-ryu training episode when they were young. All Participants were moved by their skill,great performance.

After training, we went to Senaga island for BBQ dinner together. We all had a very good time. Thank you very much for Gima sensei and Kinjo sensei’s kind friendship!
