Dojo Waryu – Karate Camp in Okinawa 2023

Arriving on April 13th and leaving on April 21st, members of Dojo Waryu came to Okinawa for a Karate Camp. The karateka had over 20 hours of training Karate and Kobudo. They also went on a couple of sightseeing tours which included a visit to Okinawa World in the southern part of Okinawa. Besides the training and tours, we arranged accommodation, transportation, and a farewell barbecue party for them.

Arriving on February 19th and leaving on February 26th, 19 Karate practitioners and 4 non-karate practitioners from England came to Okinawa for a Karate Camp. The karateka had over 20 hours of training Karate and Kobudo. They also went on a Karate History Tour and a Sightseeing tour of the southern part of Okinawa. Besides the training and tours, we arranged accommodation, transportation, and a welcome and farewell party for them.

Event Report-Okinawa Karate World Tournament 2022

From August 1st to 8th, 2022, the 2nd Okinawa Karate World Tournament and the 1st Okinawa Karate Boys and Girls World Tournament will be held at two venues, the Okinawa Karate Kaikan and the Okinawa Prefectural Budokan. Despite Covid, 2,200 people from 27 countries around the world will participate.

In the morning of the first day, an Inaugural Dedication was held at the Okinawa Karate Kaikan. A ceremony and exchange performance were held. Seven Okinawan Karate Grand Masters, holders of the “Okinawa Karate and Kobujutsu” Intangible Cultural Asset designated by Okinawa Prefecture, performed.

Karate History Tour on July 12th, 2020 – Shidōkan Karate

We conducted a Karate History Tour in Naha on July 12th, 2020 for Yoshiji Soeno Sensei and his wife Iuliana Soeno. Yoshiji Soeno Sensei is a Japanese karateka from the Kyokushin Kaikan (極真会館) and a retired professional welterweight kickboxer. He founded Shidōkan Karate, and is also known as The Tiger of Josai. For those of you who know the video game developer and publisher Capcom and its Street Fighter franchise, the character Ryu is said to be based on Yoshiji Soeno Sensei. It was an honor to have done the tour for them.

【Report】Karate Trial Experience for a Company Trip of 37 People from Tokyo

On February 9th, 37 employees of the company Hakuhodo Kettle based in Tokyo came to Okinawa to take part in an unforgettable Karate experience program. The program began with a one-hour lecture on the “History of Traditional Okinawan Karate”, followed by an hour of actual Karate training. The lecture and Karate training was conducted by 10th Dan Shorin-ryu Koei Nohara Sensei, director of the Ryukyukan here in Okinawa. Everyone who participated in the program did so with a very positive attitude, making the 2-hour program a great success.

【Report】Zen + Karate Experience Program (FAM Tour for Hong Kong Educational Trip)

The Okinawa Tourism Convention Bureau (OCVB) introduced us to a group of 10 people from the Hong Kong Educational Trip FAM Tour, and today the group participated in our “Zen + Karate” program at the Shuri Kannondo Temple.
The program was restricted to an hour from 6:30am to 7:30am because of their flight schedule. After enjoying the Zen and Karate, the group then enjoyed taking many photos. They were able to have a unique cultural experience, an experience unlike any we have offered to other School Educational trips to Okinawa in the past. We will continue to offer karate experiences in various ways to everyone, Karate pratitioner or not, visiting Okinawa.

【Report】Łódzka Akademia Karate Tradycyjnego in Okinawa

Karate practitioners from Łódzka Akademia Karate Tradycyjnego located in Łódź, Poland came to Okinawa in January 2020 and stayed for 11 days. We had arranged a Karate History Tour, Zen, 3 days of intense dojo training, and a few other programs. For the dojo training, we had arranged for the group to train with a different Grand Master for each day of their training.

Karate History Tour in Naha on January 9th, 2020 for Goju-ryu members

January 2020 was the 2nd time the Goju-ryu members from the UK visited Okinawa and had used our services, and this was their second time on the Karate History Tour. Karate History Tour in Naha on December 5th, 2019 for Goju-ryu members

We had 2 visitors who came all the way from America to join our Karate History Tour. As their Karate style is goju-ryu, we catered the tour with that in mind. The 1st Okinawan Traditional Karate and Kobudo Charity Demonstration on December 8th

We held “The 1st Okinawan Traditional Karate and Kobudo Charity Demonstration” on December 8th at National Theater Okinawa. There were over 200 people who attended, with a portion of ticket sales going to the reconstruction of Shuri Castle.

It was a wonderful event, where 8 locally owned and managed dojos put on a great display. Everyone had a great time not only watching the dojos perform, but also learning some of the secret methods and techniques by a few Senseis like Goju-ryu 9th Dan Tsuneo Kinjo Sensei or Kobudo 9th Dan Hiroshi Akamine.
